Update: The late Wattpad writer was laid to rest on Saturday, February 24.
Avid Wattpad fans and readers are saddened by the news of popular Wattpad writer Diana Marie Maranan, who is also known by her pen name, Yanalovesyouu.
Diana, who also went by her nickname, Yana, was one of the many well-liked local writers on the social storytelling platform, Wattpad. She was known for her notable fictional stories including My Husband is a Mafia Boss series, Lerwick, and Les Solitaires.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday, February 20, her passing was confirmed by her relatives and close friends, almost a month after one of her famous series, My Husband is a Mafia Boss, celebrated its 11th anniversary.
“It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my best friend, Diana Marie Serrato Maranan, the legendary author of My Husband Is A Mafia Boss, this morning. I have already spoken to her sister and am confirming this with consent from her family,” one of her close friends, Erika Pepito, announced on her Facebook post.
She did not disclose the cause of the writer’s death and requested to respect her family’s privacy.
Another friend of Yana’s, Cy Sero, took to social media to grieve her fellow writer’s passing.
“Yana passed away this morning. Mahirap tanggapin. Nakakabigla. Kahit ako gusto kong isipin na sana prank nalang din ‘to, pero hindi e,” Cy wrote.
On X, Yana’s fans and avid readers expressed their sadness over the author’s sudden passing, making the hashtags, Ms. Yana, and MHIAMB, trend on the platform.
“I just saw the news about ate yanalovesyouu, the author of my husband is a mafia boss just passed away :((( Lumaki ako na nagbabasa ng ebook & wattpad during my high school days and isa to sa mga fave ko. Condolence to her fam & may you rest in peace ate :((,” one of her readers wrote.
“R.I.P Ms. Yana. My Husband is a Mafia Boss was a huge part of my teenage life as a reader. Even now as an adult, I still go back to reading this wonderful story whenever i need a good laugh. Thank you for this unforgettable legacy you left us readers,” an X user posted.
“Ms. Yanalovesyouu, you will always be remembered for your incredible creations. The story “My Husband is a Mafia Boss” is one of my favorites and has gained immense popularity on Wattpad. Right now, I’m still in shock and finding it hard to believe the sudden news.??️,” wrote another.
“The author of My Husband Is A Mafia Boss is gone? I will never forget the roller coaster emotions I feel everytime I read that book. Rest in peace ate yanalovesyouu, thank you for creating a masterpiece. You will always have a special place in the library of my heart,” a fan thanked Yana on X.
