Miles Ocampo shares cancer-free status, embraces lifelong treatment

Actress Miles Ocampo happily shared that she is now “cancer-free,” several months after undergoing thyroid surgery.

This revelation was made in a vlog hosted by Kapamilya broadcaster Karen Davila uploaded on her YouTube channel last Thursday, Jan. 11.

“Yes, I’m cancer-free. But ‘yun na nga, maintenance for life. ‘Yung meds ko, habambuhay na siya,” Miles said.

She added, “And doon na ako naka-base, kumbaga ‘yung weight ko rin. Doon na siya magbi-base kung papayat o tataba. Kasi every two months kailangan kong magpa-blood test para i-check kung i-adjust ba ‘yung dosage.”

Miles disclosed in April 2023 that she underwent surgery to combat thyroid cancer. The actress admitted that her doctor seemed hesitant to inform her that what she was going through was cancerous.

According to her, she learned everything after the procedure was completed, prompting the artist to undergo oral radiation.

“It was malignant at ang laki na niya. Kung hindi ko po siya naagapan, posible talagang kumalat,” she explained, “Nalaman kong cancer siya nung after na nung operation.”

“‘Yung mga times na ‘yon na parang it’s so uncertain, hindi mo alam kung ano ang mga mangyayari, just trust Him [God]. Trust Him, kapit ka lang sa Kanya, talk to Him,” Miles shared.

The former child star expressed gratitude for her cancer recovery, especially after celebrating her 26th birthday last year.

Miles previously won her first-ever acting award as the Best Supporting Actress award during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 Awards Night for her performance in the film “Family of Two”.
