“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”
Pambansang wealth coach Chinkee Tan gives financial advice as we welcome the new year.
In an exclusive interview with LatestChika.com/The Philippine STAR during the #BestofTikTokPH Creators Night at the Rizal Park Hotel on December 10, 2023, Tan looked back on the financial experience of the public in the middle of the pandemic.
“For 2024, I suggest na talagang aside from your first income, mag create na kayo ng second income. I always tell people na kung may pandemic 1, may possibility na mag pandemic 2. Para sakin, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail,” he said.
“Kapag hindi tayo natuto sa first one, I highly recommend let’s maximize from your first income, magkaroon ka ng second income.Sa totoo lang, kung iisa lang ang source of income mo ngayon challenging talaga. Pataas nang pataas ang bilihin pero ‘yung kita natin hindi tumataas,” he added.
In a separate interview, Tan stressed the importance of having an emergency fund.
“Kung may sobra ka, mag build ka ng emergency fund, just in case mawalan ka ng work, may pondo ka,” he said.
“Wala namang problema mag-shopping, ‘wag mo lang uutangin,” he noted.
Tan, a motivational speaker and financial consultant, was awarded Educator of the Year during the TikTok Awards 2023 in November. He joined the educational community of TikTok Philippines in 2020.
