Ellen Adarna and Derek Ramsay were expecting their first child together but had lost their baby due to miscarriage.
The celebrity dad made the relevation during the press conference of his Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry Kampon, still showing in theaters.
It was their vacation in Spain when they first learned of Ellen’s pregnancy, but the actress eventually suffered miscarriage.
“Nandun kami sa Spain for my mom’s birthday. Delayed si Ellen…She’s never delayed. So we knew something was up. And she got herself tested while we were there. She was positive,” shared Derek.
The hunk actor furthered, “Great news for my mom, for us. And then pauwi, nag-i-spotting na siya and then eventually… we lost the pregnancy.
Although they are saddened with the loss, Derek is thankful that his wife is okay, and are hoping to get their wish of having a baby next year.
“So there’s nothing major, hindi niya kailangang magparaspa or anything. It was still early on in the trimester, a few weeks lang naman.”
“So, at least, sadly we lost the baby, but at least alam namin na hindi kami baog,” he added.
Derek, who tied the knot with Ellen in 2021, said the only thing missing in his life right now is a baby.
“Laging sinasabi ko, boy, pero ngayon parang gusto ko nang magka-baby girl.
“I’m very blessed and I’m really in a good spot right now and yun lang na talaga ang kulang.”
Both Derek and Ellen each have sons from their respective previous relationships.
