This man received several positive feedback on social media after his #GroomHost moment during his own wedding last November 19, 2023.

29-year-old groom Jan Louie Tang Ngo shared the background story of their big surprise on their wedding day.

“Lahat ng tanong talaga ng mga tao sino ang host ninyo? Because everybody knew that I was an event host. Who would you entrust to your big day? Initially talaga, we were planning to get a host. like a real host to host the day. So we were inquiring, tapos [at] the end of the day, ‘yung budget talaga ‘yung naisip namin, mag-iinvest ba tayo ng host? Tingin mo ba?” Louie told The Philippine STAR.

His bride, Jenn, then pitched a “crazy” idea to him. “Parang naisip ko lang na it’s gonna be cool ‘pag siya ‘yung nag-host ng sarili niyang wedding. Tinry ko lang,” said Jenn.

“Na-bring up niya, jokingly, ‘Ikaw na lang kaya mag-host?’ Sabi ko, ‘Ha? Talaga? Kaya ba ‘yun?’ Because nobody has been doing it So in the end, what turned out as a joke (came true), pero na-pull off naman namin,” Louie added.

Louie said that he had to think it over for some quite time before deciding to push through.

“Alam kong kaya kong gawin pero ‘yung question was the pagod. Ang tanong ko sa sarili ko, kaya ba ng energy ko? Actually, during the day, I am starting to doubt myself noong hapon na kasi parang pagod na pagod na. Ang sakit na ng likod namin noon kasi nagpo-photo op kami sa labas. Ang dami naming ginawa, pawis na pawis na ako,” Louie said.

He admitted that even his parents were questioning his decision to be a #GroomHost, but noted he was determined to make their big day even special.

“Nobody is seeing it. Nobody has seen anything like this. So parents ko, ‘Ha? Sure ka ba? Ayaw mo mag-hire na lang?’ ‘Yung parents niya ‘Ano ka ba? Dapat nag-eenjoy kayo that day! Dapat nakaupo lang kayo, dapat ganun.’ But in the end of the day, we were firm that we wanted this and then it worked out pretty well, actually,” Louie shared.

When he was all in with the idea, the couple decided not to tell their guests and other family members to surprise them on their big day.

“Nobody knew except my parents and my entourage. Actually, ‘yung entourage ko, ayaw ko nga sabihin, medyo no choice lang ako kasi if you’ve seen the viral video, may performance pa kami before ako pumasok. Kasi that was what I want, Gusto ko parang ASAP levels, so may performance tapos [iaabot] agad sa akin ‘yung mic and then boom. Everybody was surprised,” he recalled.

“Even the suppliers, ‘Grabe, Sir. 23 years na ako sa industriya, I’ve never seen anything like this.’ Lahat sila ganun. ‘First time namin, ang galing, ang galing!’ Everybody is approaching us ‘I’ve never seen anything like this.’ It was so special. Everyone was through the roof. It was all positive feedback,” he added.

Looking back, Louie and Jenn are very happy with the outcome of their wedding.

“Hindi namin ‘to makakalimutan ever. Kahit na senior na kami. The reception became very, very special and everybody felt that it was very special. And for us, kasi kami ang couple that day. Babaunin namin hanggang sa maputi na ang buhok namin,” Louie stressed.
