Halloween is not just for trick-or-treating and spooky decorations, it’s also a time for our favorite celebrities to don their most creative, jaw-dropping, and sometimes hilarious costumes. Year after year, showbiz and online personalities stepped up their Halloween game, and 2023 was no exception.

Here’s a rundown of the best Halloween costumes that left us in awe.

ABCD girls as Mean Girls

Senior High star Andrea Brillantes, together with her real-life besties Bea Borres, Criza Taa, and Danica Ontengco, channeled their inner ‘plastics’ this Halloween and paid homage to the iconic main characters of the American teen movie Mean Girls.

Sassa Gurl as funeral flowers

Just like his “online seller” look from last year’s Sparkle Halloween event, Sassa Gurl turned heads and drew laughs once again with her ensemble inspired by a floral arrangement typically seen in local funerals.

In photos shared by GMA’s Sparkle, the Tiktok star comically paired his bouquet outfit with red heels and a white sash that read: “Condolences. From: Congressman”

Pipay as SK Kagawad

In season with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election period, content creator Pipay showed up at the Sparkle Spell 2023 campaigning as a poster of herself as a kagawad complimented with flyers to possibly hand out to fellow attendees.

Just like any other running politician, Pipay’s poster came with a catchy winning tagline: “Sa Gobyernong tapat, May libreng kagat!”

Derrick Monasterio as Achilles

The Kapuso hunk actor’s portrayal of the Greek hero, Achilles, was eerily spot-on, complete with his grandest entrance riding a real horse on the black carpet of Sparkle’s Halloween event.

Believe it or not, the horse was said to be added as a last-minute idea, according to Derrick’s interview during the event.

Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano as Captain Barbell and Darna

Kapamilya’s hottest love team, popularly known as “DonBelle”, sparked “super” kilig in their fans with their versions of popular Pinoy superheroes with Donny as Captain Barbell and Belle as Darna.

Kyline Alcantara as Night King

Winter came for this year’s Sparkle Halloween ball as Kyline graced the event in her chillingly, elaborate rendition of the Night King, one of the famous villains from the foreign fantasy TV series, Game of Thrones.

Tim Yap as Lilia Cuntapay

The host of the recently held, star-studded Shake, Rattle, and Ball Halloween event, stepped into the iconic role of the “Queen of Philippine Horror Movies”, who’s none other than the late Lilia Cuntapay.

Yap, who came dressed as an “aswang”, one of Cuntapay’s many iconic roles, became the standout spook of the night.

Andrea Brillantes as Lilith

Andrea B. definitely has her claws for this year’s “Queen of Halloween” with another entry of her fearlessly embracing the role of Lilith, an enigmatic she-demon from the Garden of Eden who’s also known as the “first wife of Adam.”

Her captivating photoshoot with a real snake embodies the mystique and allure of Lilith’s character, making a bold and remarkable statement at the Shake, Rattle, and Ball Halloween party co-hosted by the actress herself, together with eventologist Tim Yap.

Anne Curtis-Smith and Solenn Heusaff-Bolzico as goddesses

In a captivating fusion of light and dark, celebrity sisters-in-law Anne and Solenn beautifully merged ancient Greek aesthetics, adorning themselves in complementary ensembles that channeled their inner goddesses.

Their stunning presence at the Opulence Ball was a divine tribute to the timeless allure of Greek mythology.

Voltes V: Legacy cast as Alice in Wonderland characters

The cast members of Voltes V: Legacy made a reappearance in the limelight, but instead of being in mech flight suits. Instead, they embraced the spirit of Halloween dressed up as the whimsical characters from the classic tale Alice In Wonderland for the Sparkle Spell Halloween Party.

Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho, as a group, demonstrated their complete commitment to the theme, earning them the coveted title of “Sparkle Stars of the Night” for their astonishing costumes.

Mikee Quintos as Hannah Montana

Netizens are seeing double with the Kapuso singer’s transformation into the teen icon Hannah Montana, capturing her distinctive popstar look with her blonde hair while pulling off her character’s iconic poses.

Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles as Wednesday and Thing

This celeb couple is flexing relationship goals with their creative and wacky portrayal of characters from the supernatural TV series Wednesday with Kim as Wednesday Addams and Jerald as her sidekick, Thing, who definitely nailed its disembodied look.

Rhian Ramos as Alexandra Trese

The Kapuso actress’ homage to the titular character, Alexandra Trese, from the popular Filipino supernatural series Trese, drew praises from netizens for her Shake, Rattle, and Ball costume’s attention to detail and passion for the show.

Rhian’s Trese also had fans wishing to see her play as the heroine in the show’s “potential” live-action version.

The actress was also accompanied by her boyfriend Sam Versoza and fashion designer Chris Nick Delos Reyes, who both played the series’ charismatic twin bodyguards, Crispin and Basilio.

Chie Filomeno as Medusa

The Kapamilya actress fiercely embodied the mythical figure of Medusa, the formidable Gorgon whose serpentine hair could turn any living creature into stone, which similarly captivated and left her onlookers in awe during the Opulence Halloween Ball 2023.
