Actor-director Joey Paras has passed away at the age of 45, as confirmed by his relatives on social media.

In a Facebook post, his niece, Zciara Shyne Sinchon-Fabian, shared the sad news, stating, “We are saddened to announce that our Tito Joey Paras passed away and joined our Creator.”

“Unfortunately his heart wasn’t able to recover anymore,” she said.

According to Fabian, Paras died on Sunday afternoon, around 5:40 p.m. His remains were said to still be at the hospital’s morgue as his bills still needed to be settled.

The comedian’s family is currently asking for donations to help them take Paras home.

“Our family is knocking at your kind and generous heart to help us raise a fund to cover his hospital bills. If you wish to donate kindly PM ME po,” Fabian wrote.

Paras’ funeral arrangements will be announced further.

Although the cause of the actor’s passing was not mentioned, past news has reported that he had experienced heart issues back in 2018 and had to undergo heart surgery.

Joey shared in a previous interview with GMA News that he needed a cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemaker (CRTP), to help his heart beat correctly and monitor its condition.

In 2020, he contracted COVID-19 and took to social media to ask for donations for his angioplasty operation which cost PHP750,000.

Some of Joey’s notable projects include comedy films, Bekikang: Ang Nanay Kong Beki, Sisterakas, Momzillas, Born Beautiful, and Ayuda Babes.

He also appeared in television series such as Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Kahit Puso’y Masugatan, and FlordeLiza.
