Pura Luka Vega performs The Prayer at fundraising drag show after release from jail

-

A day after being released on bail, Pura Luka Vega is back on stage with their performance of The Prayer during a fundraising event held for them.

In a video uploaded by Noelle Capili-Ruiz on X (formerly Twitter), the controversial drag queen was seen performing Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion’s classic duet song, The Prayer, together with their mother at a drag show led by Drag Den PH winner NAIA.

The event, titled NKKLK: A Fundraising Show for Pura Luka Vega, was held last Sunday, Oct. 8 in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to the uploader, the reason behind performing the famous song was because it was the favorite song of Pura Luka Vega’s mother.

Several drag performers, including Drag Race PH contestants Precious Paula Nicole and Lady Morgana, attended to rally with the drag community in support of Pura Luka Vega.

A day after the fundraising event, Pura Luka Vega thanked their supporters on his X account.

Pura Luka Vega was previously arrested in connection to their controversial Ama Namin remix performance last July, which allegedly offended “religious beliefs.” They were released on bail last Saturday.
