ABS-CBN responds to MTRCB’s suspension of It’s Showtime

ABS-CBN has officially released a statement in response to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and its decision to suspend It’s Showtime.

On Monday afternoon, Sept. 4, the MTRCB issued its decision to suspend the ABS-CBN noontime program It’s Showtime for 12 airing days after claiming that multiple complaints were filed in the past concerning an episode wherein the program’s hosts allegedly “acted in an indecent manner” during one of its segments, Isip Bata.

A few hours later, ABS-CBN News released the statement on their website addressing the matter.

“We have received the ruling from the MTRCB, indicating that “It’s Showtime” will be suspended for a duration of 12 days from the finality of the decision,” the statement read.

As indicated in MTRCB’s statement, the respondents on behalf of It’s Showtime are allowed 15 days to ask for a reconsideration of the decision.

“We will submit a Motion for Reconsideration as we humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law,” ABS-CBN affirmed.

“We are also committed to working with the MTRCB to ensure that “It’s Showtime” can continue to bring joy and entertainment to our noontime viewers,” the network assured its viewers, thanking the “Madlang People” for their love and support for It’s Showtime.

About a month ago, the MTRCB summoned the producers of It’s Showtime after a viral cake-eating scene between hosts and real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.
