P-pop group ALAMAT honored to perform in FIBA World Cup opening ceremonies 


P-pop group ALAMAT is ready to showcase Pinoy pride as they headline the FIBA 2023 World Cup at the Philippine Arena this Friday, August 25.

The first multiethnic and multilingual Filipino act shared how honored and excited to be chosen to perform in the international basketball competition which will also feature performances from Sarah Geronimo, Ben&Ben and the Dawn. 

“Sobrang excited kami…Sobrang proud na proud kami na mag-perform doon at irerepresent namin ang ating bansa, kaya Mabuhay Pilipinas,” said Tomas in an interview with Philippine STAR and Latestchika.com on the sidelines of STAR’s Truth Festival last Sunday, August 25, at the Quezon Memorial Circle. 



The group performed their new single Walang Hanggan, Day and Night, and hit song Maharani at the said event.

Jao, meanwhile, said they are dedicated to making the Pinoy talent known in the upcoming FIBA World Cup opening ceremonies. hi

“It’s such a big opportunity, it’s an international event so we are gonna do our very best, to make our culture known, to make Filipino talent known and to give what P-pop has to offer,” said Jao. 

Originally a nine-piece group, Alamat became the second P-pop act to make it to Billboard chart and the fastest to appear on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart, debuting at the No. 2 spot in 2021.

Known for highlighting Filipino culture in their music, the group is composed of six members with different ethnicities who also sing and perform in their native languages namely Taneo (Ilocano), Mo (Filipino-American), Tomas (Bicolano), R-Ji (Waray-Waray), Alas (Bisaya), and Jao (Kapampangan). 

The boy group is set to release their second album “IsaPuso” which will be out soon this year.
