Sandara Park to debut as solo artist with a new album in July

-

Sandara Park, also popularly known as Dara, is reportedly gearing up for her debut as a solo artist and will release a new album in July.

According to K-entertainment news outlet Allkpop, citing several Korean media outlets, the former member of the iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 is set to make her solo debut and will be releasing her an album some time in July.

“The singer recently completed filming for her title track MV and is now in the final stages of preparation for her first solo single album release, coming next month,” Allkpop reported.

Allkpop also noted that this will mark Sandara’s official debut as a solo artist in Korea after approximately 14 years of debuting in 2NE1.

Sandara had previously hinted at her solo music in late February.

The idol interacted with her fans and answered some questions which left big clues on her soon-to-be-released album. According to Sandara, the album will be composed of “different genres,” which might also include a “DARA style” love song.

Her upcoming release will put an end to her long hiatus as a soloist after initially becoming a solo recording artist in the Philippines back in 2005. To recall, she launched her entertainment career in the Philippines after emerging as first runner-up in the reality talent search Star Circle Quest. At the time, Sandara gained the title “Pambansang Krungkrung” and released hit local songs, In Or Out and Ang Ganda Ko (I’m Beautiful), before leaving the country for Korea and eventually joining YG Entertainment.

She debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009. The famous group eventually disbanded in 2016. Sandara then left her label on May 14, 2021 and officially joined Abyss Company on September 1, 2021.

The Korean singer has recently been in the Philippines to shoot a Korean variety show Idol Truck in Clark, Pampanga. She was spotted together with the cast, Korean idols Jinu from Winner, Aron and JR from NU’EST, and Dindin.
