TVJ to retain Eat Bulaga title for show on TV5

-

Former senator Tito Sotto confirmed that their upcoming noontime show on TV5 will retain the name of Eat Bulaga.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that the iconic trio ‘TVJ’, composed of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon, along with other ‘Dabarkads’, were officially moving to the Kapatid network.

The original Eat Bulaga hosts have signed a deal with Mediaquest Group “to produce content for TV5 and other Mediaquest platforms”.

After the MediaQuest’s announcement on TVJ and Dabarkads’ partnership MediaQuest, the company that owns and operates, Eat Bulaga, PEP reported that Tito confirmed the continuation of Eat Bulaga in the Kapatid network.

“MediaQuest actually. Many platforms on cable and internet, including TV5,” the senator said.

When asked for the show’s starting date and running title, Sen. Tito answered, “Eat Bulaga. We are working on it.”

The move of the “longest-running noontime show” came a week after TVJ’s sudden announcement on live television of their resignation from the show’s producer TAPE Inc., after 44 years of working with them. Other ‘Dabarkads’ followed suit a day after.

TAPE Inc., released an official statement on their exit saying, “Ang pag-alis ng host ay hindi dahilan para tumigil ang ikot ng mundo,” and that their departure was “unfortunate, but life must go on.”

After airing reruns for the past days, Eat Bulaga returned on air last Monday, June 5, introducing a new set of “Dabarkads” Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Alexa Miro, and twins Mavy and Cassy Legaspi as the replacements for TVJ and other hosts.
