Former Mayor Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s son Joaquin Domagoso has opened up about being a dad at a young age.
Joaquin related in an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda on Wednesday his initial thoughts when he learned that he was going to be a dad.
Although he was excited over the news, Joaquin said that he also felt the pressure and fear of what was coming.
“Natakot ako po kasi who am I, like I’m so young. Anong mabibigay ko sa anak ko sa ganito at this age. Ano mangyayari sa career ko?” shared Joaquin.
The 21-year-old also related how his dad and mom Lynn Ditan reacted when they knew that he was expecting a child with girlfriend Raffa Castro.
Joaquin said that while his dad was elated and excited to become a granddad, his mom urged him and Raffa to not get married yet, which they mutually agreed on.
“We’re smart, we’re a new generation po and nakakaisip na po kami na parang hindi lang po dahil na may anak na po kayo (kailangan) magpakasal na po kayo. You have to really fall in love with each other,” stated Joaquin.
According to Joaquin, he’s not keen on marrying for the baby’s sake, saying he wants to take matters in her relationship with Raffa one step at a time.
“You can’t just decide na ‘I’ll do this’ tapos magpapakasal na kami bukas. Gusto ko ‘yung talagang ipaplano pa namin… I don’t wanna do it just because may anak kami.
“Kawawa naman si Raffa ‘nun. If the reason why pinakasalan ko siya dahil lang may anak na kami, eh ‘di ba dapat nagpapakasal ka dahil mahal mo ‘yung tao,” he added.
The Kapuso star also confessed about his fear of losing his career after becoming a young dad, noting the decrease of his followers following the baby news.
“Takot na takot po ako because when my fans see me, ‘pag makita nila na parang ito ‘yung parang ginagawang matinee idol or something, na siya ‘yung next na bida. For me, I just want to do acting. I want to be an actor. I don’t want to disappoint anybody,” said Joaquin.
He furthered, “I got to breathe a bit because what then happened afterwards, maraming pumasok (na projects). ‘Yung mga totoo na, tunay na fans ko (sinusuportahan pa rin ako) ako dahil kita nila na mabait na tao talaga ako, na gusto ko lang magpatawa ng tao. That’s who I am and that’s who I want to be as an artist.”
Joaquin and Raffa welcomed their child, a baby boy named Scott, in April 2022.
