After months of training, Pia Wurtzbach has finally fulfilled her goal of finishing the New York City marathon.
The pageant queen took to social media to gush over the experience, which she described was the “best run of her life.”
“The NYC Marathon wasn’t a race, it was an experience. A life lesson. Probably the best run of my life. I saw and felt so much. I AM SO HAPPY and grateful, inspired, humbled, and emotional… lahat na!” she wrote.
For Pia, the medal she received for finishing the race represents the importance of keeping the promise she made to herself.
“I knew it would take time and dedication to achieve it but I wanted to stick to that promise no matter where life or work pulled me.
“Over the years, I got used to being at the service of others and most of my decisions revolved around work or pleasing others. This time, I stuck by running a marathon for me,” she opened up.
On the same social media post, she expressed her gratitude for her loved ones and fans who showed their support in her journey.
She mentioned: “I’m grateful for all the support and cheering on ground and online. I saw your signages, your messages and posts – kahit sobrang yung kaba ko and pagod 5 hours in, lumalakas loob ko.”
The 33-year-old started her training for the NYC marathon way back in February after her bout with COVID-19 at the start of the year.
Pia shared her battle with the illness inspired her to join the big event.
“Something cliked over New Year (when I had Covid) and I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I felt like , ‘Okay Pia if you don’t do it now, you’ll never do it,'” she said.
