Maine Mendoza and longtime boyfriend Arjo Atayde are getting married after more than three years of being a couple.
The actress and Eat Bulaga mainstay made the surprise announcement in an Instagram post on Friday, alongside photos of her and Arjo from their engagement.
“Wait, whaaaat??? We’re engaged?! ?,” Maine casually captioned on Instagram.
The photos showed the couple doing wacky poses, smiling from ear to ear, while another snap featured Maine’s hand with the engagement ring, pinching Arjo’s cheeks.
Arjo later shared another set of photos from their engagement on Instagram, with a caption referencing Maine’s viral “Arjo cutie” tweet back on July 28, 2013.
The two got engaged on Thursday, July 28, 2022, exactly nine years after Maine posted the tweet.
Arjo has been vocal about their plans of settling down, previously saying in an interview that Maine is “The One” for him.
“I’m overwhelmed with the way I love her and she loves me back. It’s a different understanding. I think I found a best friend, partner,” Arjo said in an old interview.
Maine and Arjo started out as co-stars in the 2018 film Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles and made their romance public in 2019.
The two will mark their fourth anniversary as a couple in December.
