South Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong, who played Yoo Ji Hu in the Boys Over Flowers series, is going to be a father.
Korean media outlet Soompi on Friday, released a statement from Henecia, Hyun Joong’s agency, that the actor is set to welcome his first child with his non-showbiz wife.
“We are informing you of the happy news that has found its way to our artist Kim Hyun Joong’s family,” read Henecia’s statement as translated to English by South Korean entertainment news website Soompi.
“Kim Hyun Joong is currently awaiting a new life with cautious gratitude and excitement.
“We ask for your sincere blessings and support so that he can protect this precious life,” it added.
Hyun Joong’s management also asked fans to “refrain from excessive interest or speculation out of consideration for his non-celebrity wife.”
Hyung Joong, a member of boy band SS501, is known for his roles in Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss.
The 36-year-old married his non-showbiz partner earlier this year, although the couple reportedly decided not to hold a wedding ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Last February, Hyun Joong announced during his concert his marriage to his wife, saying, “I have decided to spend the rest of my life with someone who has stayed by my side through my most difficult and exhausting time.”
