According to the video’s uploader, Shaddai Lee Vidal, a junior high school teacher from the school, the students were “happy and excited” once they knew they would be dancing to the hit K-pop boy group’s song on their graduation.

Vidal added that Jonilo Jainar, a senior high school teacher and BTS fan, came up with the idea as most of the students were also fans of the K-pop group.

Jainar, meanwhile, told The Philippine STAR’s LatestChika in a message that he chose the song for its “message and lyrics.”

“It is so fitting and positive and I don’t want a song na masyadong emotional for I know how the students feel during the pandemic,” he said.

“I want the graduation to be like a celebration and a very happy occasion,” Jainar added.

The students, according to Jainar, were asked to practice at home with a tutorial video he sent and that they were only able to practice as a group twice.

Vidal’s video of the graduation dance has since went viral on social media, garnering over 56,000 reactions, 3,900 comments, and 34,000 shares from netizens.

When asked how they felt about the video gaining traction online, the two teachers said that they were shocked, happy and overwhelmed.

“I just wanted to capture the soo-happy moment then uploaded sa fb ko just to document the happy occasion and share to everyone that no matter what we always have the reason to be happy.. Ang saya talaga sa moment na iyon.. Hindi ko po inakala na mag viral,” Vidal said.

“This inspired us more to continue our passion that is providing the best for our students,” Jainar added.
