Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran calls out fake news claiming she’s endorsing VP Leni Robredo

-

Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran debunked a Facebook post claiming that she is backing Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential bid in the upcoming elections.

On Instagram, the former beauty queen of the Philippines shared a screenshot of a Facebook post showing photos of her and the country’s three other Miss Universe title holders Gloria Diaz, Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray.

“3 out of 4 Miss Universe from the Philippines (Margarita, Pia and Catriona) endorsed Leni Robredo as their President,” read the Facebook post’s caption.

Margie, who’s the current chairperson of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, however clarified: “This post is fake news. I will not compromise my position as a government official by endorsing a candidate. My choice is who I think will serve the nation best.”

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has earlier announced that she voted for Robredo during the overseas absentee voting in Abu Dhabi, UAE last April 13.

“Today, I am even prouder to have voted for Leni to be our next President. I’m sharing this with you dahil naniniwala ako sa kakayahan ng isang babae. Naniniwala ako at naninindigan ako para kay Leni,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

This was followed by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray who endorsed Robredo and her running-mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan in a YouTube vlog, while sharing the qualities she is looking for the country’s next leaders.
