Angel Locsin clapped back at a basher who left a demeaning comment on her weight.
Recently, Angel together with her husband Neil Arce joined the crowd of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo slate’s campaign rally in Pasig.
The actress-philanthropist took to Instagram to share a photo of her with Neil, holding her self-made placard that read “Ma’am Leni sa’yo na ang bato”, in reference to her role as iconic heroine Darna in 2005.
“Our real life Darna,” TV host Bianca Gonzales, who is also a vocal supporter of Robredo commented under Angel’s post.
A netizen, however, countered Bianca’s remark, leaving a hateful comment against Angel.
“DARNA OMG!! Look 👀 can you not see? She covered her body with that banner that is so stupigs,” wrote the netizen.
While fans defended Angel over the body-shaming comment, the actress hit back at the basher:
“So ano hong gusto mong sabihin bukod pa sa malaki ang problema mo sa katawan ko pero mas problema naman ang face at ugali mo?” said Angel, cautioning to file a case against the basher.
The did not easily back down as he continued to slur Angel as well as her nephew senatorial hopeful congressman Neri Colmenares successive comments and challenged the actress to carry out her plan.
Angel later apologized for her offensive comment, but stressed that she’s only true with her words on filing a complaint against the basher.
“Sir, are you high? I’m sorry for insulting your face pati ugali mo. What I did is not proper – kahit sa isang super perfect looking na red tagger. And no, hindi po ako nananakot. Pasensya na po kung natakot kayo sa pagsabi ko ng totoo.”
Angel also told a fan not to hinder the basher from leaving comments: “Hayaan mo siyang magsalita at may resibo ng unethical behavior.”
In an interview with Over a Glass or Two in July 2021, Angel addressed the body-shaming comments saying she loves and respects herself that she’s unbothered by the criticisms.
“Kung hindi kayo natutuwa sa sarili ko, well, I’m sorry to hear that. But natutuwa pa naman ako sa sarili ko and I know ang kaya kong ibigay sa table,” said Angel.
“Buti na lang mahal ko ang sarili ko at nirerespeto ko ang sarili ko, dahil ang katawan na ito ay maraming pinagdaanan. Maraming na-achieve din naman at marami pa akong maa-achieve. Kung wala ang katawang ito, wala si Angel Locsin. Wala ako dito. Wala akong kabuhayan. So, I am just really grateful,” she said.
