Rey PJ Abellana revealed that his daughter Carla Abellana got mad at him following his recent interview where he spoke up about the latter’s marital issue with Tom Rodriguez.
“She was mad, she was questioning me why I came up that way? Of course I explained it to her right away and after my explanation, explaining my side, hindi na naman din siya nag-message na uli,” Rey stated in a 24 Oras interview.
The veteran actor also also took back the statement he made on showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin’s digital talk show that Tom had a one-night stand with another woman.
“At first, may nakarating po at nalaman ni Carla na may issue na one night stand na involved si Tom. Si Tom naman was able to explain kay Carla na wala naman din pong katotohanan ito at naiwasan naman din niya na mangyari ’yon. So wala pong natuloy na one night stand, according to Tom’s side,” clarified Rey.
He added, “‘Yun po ‘yung scenario ng issue na one night stand. Napa-short cut lang po, napa-abrupt lang po ang pagkasabi ko kay Nanay Cristy na napag-isipan nang masama.”
While Rey said Carla has not yet opened up to him about the issue, Tom had personally reached out to him about the matter.
“When he came over to talk to me and explain his side, he would cry along with his explanations and everything and he keeps on saying he wants his wife back,” Rey said of his son-in-law.
“He wants Carla back, because he loves Carla very much. That’s why they settled down,” he added.
Rey, who earlier said that he cannot confirm that Carla and Tom already broke up, nevertheless, left this advice to the married couple.
“Importante na may communication silang dalawa, i-work out na nila ’yan, so much the better na ma-normalize na ulit sila at maipatuloy na nila ang buhay mag-asawa nila,” he said.
Rey also previously shared that Carla wanted to let the public give them the respect their privacy and pleaded him not to speak to the press about the issue and let her and Tom settle their conflict on their own.
