Kim Atienza on network wars: ‘It brings nothing but hatred between fans’

-

Kim Atienza said his piece regarding the network wars after a netizen reacted negatively to the high ratings of his GMA 7 show Dapat Alam Mo.

On Twitter last Tuesday, February 15, Atienza posted a photo showcasing his program rating with the highest among competing shows from other networks.

The rating was from the data of the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) Peoples’ Ratings last February 14.

On his post, Atienza received a reply from a netizen who said, “Wala naman kayong kalaban e,” which seemingly referenced the closure of ABS-CBN after it was denied a franchise renewal last 2020 and hinted that this left GMA 7 to prevail over the scene of local TV.

The television host answered back, saying how instead of promoting competition among TV networks, fans should be open in supporting all channels.

“Wala talaga dapat Kapamilya, Kapuso o Kapatid. Network wars bring nothing but hatred between fans that are better off enjoying ALL channels,” he said.

Atienza’s new show replaced the variety show Wowowin, which bowed down last February 11, coinciding with the departure of host Willie Revillame from the Kapuso network.

The former TV Patrol weather presenter announced his departure from ABS-CBN last October 2021. That same month, he transferred to GMA-7, being welcomed by Kapuso stars such as Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and 24 Oras weatherman Nathaniel “Mang Tani” Cruz.
