Social media personality Buknoy Glamurrr aired his sentiments after drawing some flak over copying the character Cheong-san from the hit Netflix Korean series All Of Us Are Dead.
Amid the new zombie thriller show’s popularity, some Pinoy netizens apparently saw a resemblance between Buknoy and Hyongsan high school student Lee Cheong-san played by K-drama actor Yoon Chan-young.
In a TikTok video on Wednesday, Buknoy shared that it was the requests of his followers that pushed him to imitate the All Of Us Are Dead character.
“Since nasa hype to, ‘yung All Of Us Are Dead series sa Netflix, sabi ko sa sarili ko ‘bakit kaya hindi ko irecreate yung look ni Cheong-san kasi andami rin namang nagsasabi na kamukha or kahawig ko daw’.”
But after doing at least five videos of him in a school uniform similar to that of Cheong-san in the series, Buknoy said these did not sit well with netizens.
“Suddenly, nung ginawa ko yung mga videos na parang Cheongsan look yung atake ko dito sa TikTok, ang daming nainis, ang daming nabwisit or whatsoever.
“I mean, bakit kailangan niyong mainis kung I’m just doing a content na ikakatuwa ng mga taong sumusuporta sa akin. I mean, it’s common sense. What’s wrong with that?,” he said.
Other social media users who disapproved of the comparison also hit Buknoy for going as far as changing his TikTok username to Cheongsan ng Pinas. As of writing, the YouTuber had reverted his TikTok username back to Buknoy.
The YouTuber, who first drew controversy for his “wala kayong mararating” comment about tricycle drivers in a vlog in 2020, also frowned on how netizens seemed to be singling him out when other content creators also imitated characters from All Of Us Are Dead.
“Pero ba’t pagdating sa akin ganyan ‘yung feedback niyo. Hindi ko kayo ma-gets, hindi ko kayang ignore kumbaga. Kasi ang hirap sa’kin na intindihin na ‘ano bang mali sa mga video na ‘to?”
Referring to himself as a changed person, Buknoy advised his critics to get rid of him themselves on social media.
“I’m not gonna stop doing contents na talagang ikatutuwa ng mga taong sumusuporta at natutuwa sa’kin” said Buknoy.
“Please do block me po kapag ayaw niyo akong makita sa mga feed ninyo at kapag hindi niyo maiwasan, please lang delete me sa inyong mga phones”.
“I mean trying hard na ako para ipakita sa inyo na nagbago na ako, kasi totoong nagbago na ako. But why can’t you see it?
“Pag iba yung nanggaya it’s fine. Pag Buknoy Glamurrr yung nanggaya, it’s not fine. Anong meron? Anong klaseng mindset ‘yan guys, 2022 na. Grow up please.”
