Veteran showbiz columnists Lolit Solis and Cristy Fermin said they are not the ones to back down from bashers.
In a short interview with Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang-Masa editor Salve Asis, Lolit and Cristy who are co-hosts in online showbiz talk show Take It Per Minute had a message for their online detractors.
“Hindi na namin sila kailangan ni Cristy sa career namin. Jusko, pamapagulo lang sila sa buhay namin. Hayaan mo sila,” said Lolit in the video.
Lolit, 74, previously figured in a controversy after she published in a column about Alex Gonzaga’s then-rumored miscarriage, which did not sit well with the actress-vlogger’s supporters and husband Mikee Morada.
“At kung papatulan ba namin sila, bababa ba ang presyo ng gas na linggo-linggong tumataas, ni hindi nga namin sila kilala,” said Cristy who also drew backlash for her remarks on Kylie Padilla’s breakup with Aljur Abrenica, and most recently, her “unsolicited advice” to Nadine Lustre about body-shaming.
Lolit and Cristy added that it would only be a waste of their time if they try to get back at their bashers.
“Hay naku, mauubos ang oras niyo. Hindi namin kayo papansinin. Never ko kayong kokontrahin,” said Cristy.
They also asked for her comment on being tagged the “leader ng mga Marites”. Marites is a slang term popularly used online to refer to rumormongers or gossipers.
“At least leader, hindi kami follower,” Cristy reacted with a laugh.
Lolit added, “At saka bakit sila basa nang basa, ‘yun pala naiirita sila sa tsismis namin? Gusto lang nila i-chismis namin buhay nila, e wa silang name. ‘Di ba, wa silang name, paano namin sila ichi-chismis? Walang babasa sa kanila.”
