Nicki Minaj says absence at Met Gala due to vaccine requirement

-

Nicki Minaj was upfront with her fans when she explained why she’s missing in action in this year’s Met Gala. The rapper shared that she didn’t meet the event’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement.

On Twitter, the 38-year-old admitted that she will not get vaccinated just to attend the annual gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated, it won’t be for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips you head & face. Not that loose one,” she wrote.

She then assured her fans that she will be getting vaccinated soon so she can perform live for her tours.

The American-Trinidadian artist even opened a poll for her fans to recommend which vaccine she should get.

In a past tweet, Nicki also mentioned that she is hesitant to move around during the pandemic since she’s a mother with no nannies.

“Not risking his health to be seen.”

This year’s Met Gala celebrated “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” where stars on the red carpet embodied the American Style.

The fundraising event originally set in May was postponed due to the COVID-19.
