“You complete us, mom,” were the words LJ Reyes’ son Aki said to comfort her amid her breakup with Paolo Contis.
In her tell-all with Boy Abunda, the actress recounted her conversation with her son when he finally asked about what truly happened between her and Paolo.
“May one time po na nagtanong siya sa akin kung ano ba raw talaga yung dahilan so ang meaning ng ano ba talaga ang dahilan parang feeling niya mayroon pang ibang issue,” she revealed.
Aki is LJ’s 11-year-old son with her former partner Paulo Avelino.
The mother of two admitted that Aki’s question was difficult for her but she wanted the truth to come from her. She then explained that with social media, her son has access to information that may not be accurate.
“Kinwento ko po sa kanya yung dahilan kung bakit nangyari ang lahat at isa sa mga sinabi ko sa kanya na, ‘I’m sorry for everything. I wanted a complete family for you and Summer,’ tapos kinut niya ako dun ang sabi niya sa akin, ‘You complete us, mom’,” she recounted their conversation.
“Di ko alam pero grabe po ang kirot, na-touch po ako sa bata ng sobra. Napaka-sweet na bata ni Aki po talaga at yun po yung pinoprotektahan ko,” she further told the TV host.
During happier times, LJ said that Aki already treated Paolo Contis like his true father, saying, “They were very close.”
It seemed though that LJ is determined to keep the actor out of her and her kids’ lives as she said she has severed contact with him.
Throughout the interview, the 33-year-old made it clear that she and her kids flew to New York to protect their small family during this issue.
“We left because I really need to get me and my kids out of the situation physically to help ourselves emotionally and mentally recover and rebuild as a small family.”
“I am a mother of two beautiful kids and pag sila na yung apektado, I think kahit sinong nanay will step up and defend yung mga anak nila at pamilya nila,” she also said.
LJ and Paolo share a two-year-old daughter named Summer, who is currently with her in New York.
In the same interview, she clarified that their separation was not a mutual decision.
