7-year-old girl celebrating birthday on sidewalk goes viral

A seven-year-old girl who was seen celebrating her birthday on the streets has touched the hearts of netizens.

The photos that went viral online showed the young girl in a unicorn dress along with her mother and another family member on a sidewalk.

It was uploaded on Facebook on Wednesday by netizen Kim Raytos. In a chat with STAR’s Latestchika.com, Raytos related that she was riding a taxi when she caught sight of the little girl in front of San Ildefonso Church in Makati City.

“Napansin ko to kanina habang nakasakay ako sa taxi galing makati akala ko kung ano ang cute kasi ng bata na naka unicorn na dress,” wrote Raytos on Facebook.

The 22-year-old uploader also took notice of a cardboard sign posted on the closed establishment with a handwritten text that read, “Happy 7th Birthday Janella,” with nearly deflated balloons next to it.

Raytos said she couldn’t help but be emotional after witnessing how the child’s mom made sure her daughter was able to celebrate her special day even if they do not have much in life.

“Naiiyak lang ako kasi kahit anong hirap ng buhay nila nagawa pa rin nila i-celebrate yung 7th birthday ng bata kahit sa simpleng paraan lang,” Raytos wrote in her Facebook post.

She added, “Nakakatuwa na nakakaiyak kasi bilang isang ina lahat gagawin niya makita lang masaya yung kanyang anak.”

Raytos added that she did not expect the photos would go viral, but is hoping that her simple Facebook post could help bring assistance to the child and her family.

“Hindi ko expected na sa simpleng post ko madami ang natuwa dahil nga po sa hirap ng buhay nila kahit wala po handa sinelebrate pa din nila birthday nung bata. Sana mas madami pa pong makatulong sa kanila.”

The Facebook post has now 12,000 reactions and more than 7,000 shares, as of writing.
