Lolit Solis recalls fond memories with Ricky Lo in emotional Instagram posts

-

Veteran entertainment columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis lamented the passing of her colleague and good friend Ricky Lo, as she reminisced on the good times with him.

To recall, the late Philippine STAR entertainment editor and columnist co-hosted GMA’s now-defunct showbiz talk show Startalk with Lolit.

In a series of Instagram posts, Lolit recounted her best moments with Ricky over the years, sharing how she’s deeply saddened, shocked and in pain to hear the news of his death on May 4.

“So very sad. So (shocked). Ito ang balita Salve that jolted my heart. So painful. RICKY LO is DEAD. Just like how sad noong nawala si Douglas Quijano, Bibsy Carballo,” began Lolit, referring to her other late friends from the entertainment industry.

“A part of me died today, a part of my heart is broken. One of my best friends, guardian angels, left without saying goodbye,” she added.

Lolit recalled the time when Ricky became more affected than she was after she figured in the Metro Manila film fest scam back in 1994. She said the late journalist lectured her for her actions.

That was really the time na talagang nag marka sa akin how kindhearted at sincere friend si Ricky Lo,” Lolit said.

Lolit also considered Ricky as her “security blanket,” noting that she always felt protected by him.

“Sila mga emotional crutch ko, armor, shield. Dahil wala na sila, I feel helpless, I feel lost, I feel my world crumbling down. Who will protect me now? Lagi nila akong ipinagtatanggol. Now, who will do this for me?” stated Lolit.

But despite the circumstances, Lolit believes that her deceased friends will now be the ones to guide and watch over her from above.

“Naiwan na ang bad banana na si Lolit na ngayon, bahala na sa buhay niya dahil wala na mga friends niya who watch her back, who is always on her side. Pero at least, may nauna na sa akin para makiusap sa heaven na huwag ako pabayaan, na bantayan ako, na from above will always watch me.

Lolit also shared the things admired most about Ricky — being family-oriented, prayerful and religious.

“Life is so fleeting, kaya good example sa akin ang pagiging madasalin at very religious ni Ricky.

Sharing the last moments of Ricky, Lolit said that the late journalist still had the chance to videocall his sister Susan Lo Lee a day before his passing.

He was at peace. He was ready,” said Lolit.

Lolit went on to say that Ricky’s death is “fleeting,” but vowed to always remember him.

But promise, forever iyon alaala ng pagiging credible, kind at sweet person niya will stay. Promise, every year we will remember May 5, your departure date Ricky. Promise.”
