ABS-CBN temporarily suspends live staging of It’s Showtime

Amid the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country, ABS-CBN has put its noontime variety show It’s Showtime’s live staging on pause. 

On Sunday, the network released a statement thanking their viewers for their understanding and support on this matter.  

“To ensure the safety of our hosts and production team because of the surging COVID-19 cases in the country, ABS-CBN is suspending temporarily the live staging of ‘It’s Showtime.’,” they wrote.  

Back in March of last year, ABS-CBN decided to temporarily suspend the admission of live studio audience for their various programs as a safety precaution amid the COVID-19 outbreak. (READ: ABS-CBN temporarily bans live studio audience as COVID-19 cases in Phl rise

On Sunday, the Philippines has recorded 7,757 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 663,794.  

It was also announced yesterday that Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Metro Manila will be placed under general community quarantine with addition restrictions from March 22 to April 4.
