Juan Karlos “JK” Labajo has decided to stop reaching out to his biological father, a German national whom he has never met. He believes he already has a new family and “doesn’t want me to be part of it”.
Last Thursday (April 2), in hopes of finding his long-lost father, the 19-year-old singer cleared all his Instagram posts except for a 2001 photo of a man named Oliver Stolz, which he captioned “missing person. please e-mail me if found.” The photo has since been deleted.
In a series of Instagram stories also on Thursday, JK shared how he feels about his dad.
“Wag mong takasan ang iyong responsibilidad,” read his post that seemed to be a plea to his father.
The Buwan hitmaker said that his father does not own any social media account, but days ago, a friend of JK’s found out that he signed up on the messaging app WhatsApp in November last year.
JK said he tried to message his father twice only to discover that he got blocked.
That finally made JK decide to give up the search for his father.
“His bio says ‘life is beautiful,’” he said.
“I guess he has a family now and he definitely doesn’t want me to be a part of it,” he added.
JK grew up under the care of his grandmother and uncle in Cebu. His father left him when he was still a baby.
In a TV Patrol interview in 2014, JK admitted that he longs for the love of his father after losing his mother to cancer at an early age.
In an Instagram story on Friday, the singer said he’s okay growing up fatherless, but what pains him is that his father wasn’t around when her mother needed him the most.
“Hindi naman ako nasasaktan o nalulungkot na di ko nakasama ang tatay ko sa paglaki kasi mas higit pa ang pagmamahal na ibinigay sa akin ng lola, tita, at ang aking ermats,” he said.
“Ang pinakamasakit lang para sa akin ay yung wala siya sa mga panahong sobrang kinailangan siya ng nanay ko. Hanggang sa huli niyang hingalo, hindi man lang siya nagpakita,” he added.
As of writing, JK’s Instagram account that currently has 864,000 followers only contains his baby photo with her late mother with the caption: “Choose wisely on who you give your heart and soul to.”
In his last Instagram story, JK expressed his thanks to the people who helped him in looking for his “missing” father.
