Korean singer-actress Goo Hara has passed away. She was 28.
Korean media outlets on Sunday afternoon reported that the former member of the now-disbanded Kpop girl group Kara was found lifeless at her residence in the Cheongdam neighborhood of Seoul.
Police are currently investigating the cause of her death.
Hara was the main vocalist of Kara from 2008 to 2015. After the group disbanded, she debuted as a solo artist in July 2015. She also starred in several TV shows and dramas including City Hunter in 2011.
Earlier this year, she signed with a talent agency in Japan.
Last May 2019, Hara’s manager found her unconscious at her home, after attempting suicide following several controversies including her involvement in an alleged scandal with an ex-boyfriend. She was then brought and treated at a hospital.
Just a few days ago, the Kpop star made her first public appearance after the series of unfortunate events she went through.
Hara’s death came over a month after her close friend, former f(x) member Sulli, took her own life last October 14. In a live video on Instagram, Goo Hara cried over the tragic death of her bestfriend.
Hara’s last Instagram post was a selfie with the caption: “Good Night”.
Goo Hara became a top trending topic on Twitter on Sunday, as netizens expressed their shock and grief via social media over the Kpop artist’s sudden death.
