Alvin Elchico gets reassuring message from Angel Locsin following criticism over interview

-

Angel Locsin assured Alvin Elchico she didn’t feel offended by how the broadcast journalist interviewed her about her controversial birthday community pantry.

Alvin earlier earned the ire of some netizens who deemed his line of questioning as “insensitive” to the actress, who turned emotional as she apologized over the chaos in her community pantry that led to a death of a senior citizen.

“Kahit may nangyaring ganito, mayroon ka pa bang susunod na i-oorganisang community pantry o nadala ka na?” was the question from Alvin that particularly drew criticism from some netizens.

After learning of the online sentiments, Alvin took to his radio program DZMM Teleradyo program SRO on Saturday to say sorry, explaining that he never meant to offend the actress nor her fans.

“Maybe sa manner siguro na parang bargas, pero ganun din po talaga ako magsalita na parang palasak na parang pabagsak, eh,” said Alvin.

He continued, “Sorry po, ah. Sorry po, Angel, kung nakikinig ka. I didn’t mean to offend or to hurt.

“Angel, if you’re offended sorry, sa mga fans mo, sorry po kung na-offend po kayo but it was never my intention na i-offend po siya I just asked it because I think valid po ‘yung tanong kasi nga with what happened, ‘Uulitin pa ba niya?’ and she answered sabi niya, ‘no, hindi ko na uulitin,’” he added.

Over the weekend, Alvin shared a screenshot of Angel’s message relayed to him by the actress’ nephew, former Bayan Muna congressman Neri Colmenares, that she didn’t find the questions offensive.

She said that he just asked the right questions and was doing his job, a message that the broadcaster was grateful for.

Angel, who has been silent on social media following the controversy, last posted about the local government’s call to the community pantry attendees to avail of a free COVID testing.

“According to CESU chief Dr. Rolando Cruz, residents who are showing COVID-19 symptoms such as flu and cough after going to yesterday’s event at the Titanium Bldg., Brgy. Holy Spirit need to come forward and have themselves checked,” she wrote.
