The revamped Eat Bulaga marked not just one but two milestones by celebrating its 44 years in television and unveiling its brand-new theme song.
The noontime show’s new jingle was launched on its Saturday episode, alongside the celebration of its 44th anniversary.
Its Kapuso hosts Paolo Contis, former Manila mayor Isko Moreno, Alexa Miro, Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, and siblings Mavy and Cassy Legaspi sang the theme song.
Paolo became emotional as he expressed their sentiments on celebrating another year of the iconic noontime show.
“July 29, mahalaga po ang araw na ’to sa Eat Bulaga. Forty-four years ago, sinimulan po ng Eat Bulaga ang pagbibigay ng saya,” Paolo started.
He continued, “Lumipas man po ang panahon sa kahit anong pagkakataon, maiba man po ang mga artistang humaharap sa inyo araw-araw, ang hindi po mababago ay ang hangarin ng Eat Bulaga! na magbigay ng saya at magbahagi ng pag-asa.
“Tulong at saya, yan po ang aming bagong tugon sa panahong ito,” Paolo said, almost in tears,
Meanwhile, Yorme recalled the promise they made to their viewers upon starting as its new hosts.
“In our own little way, ngayong anibersaryo ng Eat Bulaga!, ang selebrasyon na ito ay alay namin sa inyo para mapangiti lang kayo kahit papaano,” Isko said.
“Mga Kapuso, noong nagsisimula kami bilang bagong hosts, ang ipinangako namin sa inyo ay kayo ang laging dahilan kung bakit kami naririto. Sabi nga namin, it’s not always about the hosts, it’s always about the viewers,” he added.
The hosts went on to introduce their new song dedicated to their loyal viewers.
“For the first time, in 44 years, sabay-sabay nating maririnig ang bagong kanta na magbubukas ng masayang tanghalian dito sa Eat Bulaga,” Isko said before launching the track.
Paolo added, “Siyempre, bago po ito, ang gusto namin fresh lang. Kaya mas pinaganda namin ang kantang ito na mas akma sa bagong panahon at bagong panlasa. Pero ang puso at hangarin ng Eat Bulaga, siyempre, hindi po ‘yan mawawala. Kalakip ito ng kanta dahil dahil nilikha ito para inyo. All for you dahil 44 na tayo.”
The song was unveiled on air for the first time along with its music video showing the hosts singing the upbeat track and some highlights of the program.
“Eat Bulaga” premiered its first episode on July 30, 1979, and was broadcasted on Radio Philippines Network or RPN. It was dubbed as the “longest-running noontime show” on Philippine television.
The program was originally hosted by the iconic comedy trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon who became controversial after resigning from their posts and transferring to TV5 with their own noontime program, E.A.T. Tape Inc.’s Eat Bulaga went live on air anew on GMA with a new roster of hosts.
