ABS-CBN officially released a statement denouncing the circulating fake nude photo of its artists Maris Racal and Sue Ramirez.
“It has come to our attention that maliciously edited images of our talents, Sue Ramirez and Maris Racal, have been circulating online,” said the Kapamilya network in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 26.
“We condemn the act of illegally manipulating photos of celebrities or anyone,” it further said, citing the law against gender-based online sexual harassment, RA11313 or The Safe Spaces Act.
The Kapamilya network called on the public to stop sharing the digitally altered photos online and warned that they intend “to pursue legal action against the perpetrators and anyone who posts, distributes or duplicates these images.”
“Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, even on social media,” ABS-CBN added.
Both Maris and Sue have earlier addressed the issue in their respective social media accounts. They also asked their followers’ help to find those responsible for the photo that was doctored to make them appear nude.
