Netizens have been admiring Regine Velasquez for admiring Catriona Gray in a viral video.
Even the Asia’s Songbird got starstruck at the reigning Miss Universe. This was proven by a video that had circulated online where Regine was seen very focused on Catriona while the beauty queen was addressing the crowd during a concert by Frontrow.
The video which has now reached a million views was uploaded by a Twitter user on Monday with the caption “Same Ate Reg…Same…” showing Regine’s “cute” reaction to Catriona who was giving her speech at the Philippine Arena.
Seemingly amused, the Asia’s Songbird was clapping and beaming while the Miss Universe was doing her thing.
Some netizens said that “Ate Reg” transformed into a Catriona fan. And while she was admiring Catriona, the online world couldn’t help but appreciate Regine’s gesture considering that she is an icon herself.
In an interview by Philstar.com, Asia’s Songbird has reacted to the video she didn’t know had gone viral.
“Di ko alam eh. Bakit? Eh nakakatuwa kasi siya eh. ‘Yung sa Frontrow ba yan? Ahh oo kasi tinitignan ko siya, ang tangkad tapos ang payat payat, ang ganda ganda. Alam mo ‘yun, parang pinapanood ko ‘yung Miss Universe,” she said.
She also shared her conversation with the beauty queen after the event.
“I was telling her after, I didn’t know that she sings. Actually, I told her na, ‘Continue singing ha,’ and then she said, ‘Yes, I really want to and I want to learn more.’ Ang sabi ko, ‘Go, the best teacher is your experience’,” she said.
“Nakakatawa ba ko do’n? Eh kasi natutuwa ako du’n sa sinasabi niya. Ang ganda ganda kasi niya at ang ganda niyang magsalita,” she added.
Meanwhile, Catriona on Instagram posted a video from the event and said she was happy to have shared the stage with some of the country’s biggest icons, including Regine, Gary Valenciano, Sharon Cuneta, Anne Curtis and Vice Ganda.
