Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre took advantage of her birthday and worked as “Barista Moi” on her special day to help raise funds for victims of the recent earthquakes in Mindanao.
Last Monday, Moira shared photos of the celebration of her 26th birthday at a milk tea shop in Makati. She set up a donation box for people who want to extend their help to the quake victims.
“So many lost their homes and loved ones. They also don’t have access to water among so many other things… and so for my birthday I wanna ask for your help to send whatever amount you can to them,” said Moira in an Instagram post.
“Come drop by and let me make you milktea and help me send whatever help we can to the people of Mindanao. I’ll be here until 6 p.m. This will be the best gift. Sending my love and prayers to everyone affected. Thinking of you guys today♥️,” she added.
Aside from Moira, actress Angel Locsin and comedienne-TV host Melai Cantiveros also gave aid to quake-hit areas in Mindanao.
In a report by Philippine Star, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana admitted that there is a humanitarian crisis in the area after several houses and infrastructure got destroyed by the series of strong quakes and numerous aftershocks.
Lorenzana noted that victims currently staying at evacuation centers are in need of assistance.
