A case has been filed against Batangas content creator Hart Yu, popularly known online as “Mis Hart,” following allegations of animal abuse stemming from a viral livestream involving two dogs who apparently mauled his expensive slippers.
The controversy sparked public outrage after a now-deleted Facebook livestream showed Yu allegedly ordering people to catch, beat, and kill a dog he claimed had chewed his his flip-flops. The livestream showed one dog being restrained.
Animal welfare advocate Jaypee Lobaton who raised the alarm said they received multiple reports about the videos where Yu could be heard ordering the dog to be severely punished and killed.
Yu allegedly said in the video that have circulate online: “Buti nga sa’yo, perwisyo sa buhay ko eh! Sinira mo ang tsinelas ko, kamahal-mahal ng tsinelas ko.”
Yu was also heard in the video saying: “Parusahan yan ng sobra. Bugbugin muna bago pat*yin ha.”
“Nagagalit sila sa akin dahil yung aso, ipinahuli ko at ipinapapat*y ko!”
In another livestream, Yu reportedly said, “Eh di i-report n’yo ako sa Animal Welfare Act, papakausap ko sa kanila ’yung aso.” The advocate further alleged that he repeatedly said, “Wala silang mga isip, kaya nga ipinapahuli ko sila, ipinapapat*y ko sila.”
The advocate said the incident occurred in Barangay Bukal, Lemery, Batangas, and called on authorities and animal welfare groups to verify the videos and ensure the animals’ safety.
“This is not about a pair of slippers. This is about compassion, accountability, and protecting animals who have no voice,” the advocate said.
The barangay also said it sought guidance from the Municipal Police of Lemery after reviewing the livestream and related videos on September 13.
Yu has been summoned to the barangay to explain his side, while authorities are also tracing the whereabouts of another dog reportedly sold after the incident.
A complaint has also been filed against Yu and his companions for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 8485, or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, as amended by RA 10631. An agreement was likewise reached at the barangay level for three dogs to be surrendered to the Animal Kingdom Foundation for transfer to a rescue center.
Animal welfare advocates have called for accountability, stressing that animals should not be subjected to cruelty or used as online content.
