Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Gen 11 3rd Big Placer Kolette Madelo took to Facebook to apologize over her reaction to a malicious online post targeting a member of P-pop girl group BINI.
The controversy stemmed from a supposed blind item posted by controversial online personality Christian “Xian” Gaza.
The post read: “SIKSIKAN… SOBRANG SIKIP… kabaligtaran nung isang member ng BINI,” accompanied by a video showing a packed crowd at an overseas concert.
Aside from the online buzz fueled by netizens’ curiosity and the backlash from the group’s fans over the malicious accusation, eagle-eyed Facebook users quickly noticed that PBB alum Kolette Madelo had reacted with a “haha” to Gaza’s post.
The ex-housemate has since removed her reaction from the post.
On Thursday, August 14, Kolette shared an apologetic statement on her official Facebook page, addressing BINI’s fans, known as “Blooms,” as well as those who felt offended by her online activity.
Her statement read (published as is): “Hello Blooms, I just wanted to say sorry for reacting and engaging to a certain post about Bini. I understand its a serious topic and I should have been more thoughtful & sensitive. I want to take full accountability and personally apologize to those who might have been offended.”
Kolette also addressed her own fanbase, “Moonies,” urging them not to join any hate train in her defense.
“Moonies, I hope you don’t engage in hate train in my defense, gagamitin ko ito as a lesson. I will do my best to be better,” her post concluded.
It can be recalled that Kolette previously performed at the pre-show of BINI’s “Here With You” homecoming concert last June.
Meanwhile, neither BINI nor their management has responded to Gaza’s post, as of writing.
