Water utility company responds to Carla Abellana’s viral complaint about poor water supply

Villar-owned water service provider PrimeWater has addressed actress Carla Abellana’s viral complaint regarding the quality of service she received from the company.

The situation arose when Abellana publicly shared her reaction to PrimeWater’s notice of disconnection after she failed to pay her water bill for her property in Tagaytay City.

The utility company’s message dated June 26 read, “Hi Ms. Carla, May we kindly follow up regarding the status of your payment? Kindly be informed of the disconnection schedule today.”

Carla, however, asserted that she would proceed with the payment despite experiencing a lack of water supply at her property.

“Okay lang po. Halos wala din naman po kayo supply na tubig everyday, so parang ganun na din naman po. But anyway, here’s the payment,” she replied to the company.

On Sunday, June 29, PrimeWater issued its official statement addressing Abellana’s complaint.

“Ms. Abellana’s account remains active with a minimum consumption of 1 cubic meter, which explains the standard P194 bill, along with a P20 meter maintenance charge,” the water service provider explained.

“In accordance with standard utility practices, all active accounts receive a minimum monthly bill regardless of usage. Our team also made an initial visit to the property and spoke with the caretaker to explain the concern and extend support,” it added.

Additionally, PrimeWater noted that it has been delivering water daily to areas facing low or no water pressure as part of its efforts to alleviate the inconvenience for affected households.

It is worth noting that PrimeWater has been under scrutiny for a while after several citizens from areas have been complaining about service disruptions and high rates.

Weeks ago, PrimeWater has pledged to address the water supply issue in Bulacan province prior to the start of the school year, as stated by Malacañang.

This comes after President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s directive to the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to carry out an urgent investigation into the unstable water supply in the public schools he visited in Malolos and San Miguel towns in Bulacan.
