PNP kicks out vlogger Rendon Labador from local police force’s weight loss program, launches ‘Pulisteniks’ instead

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has officially declared that online personality Rendon Labador is no longer part of its weight loss program, shortly after the latter announced his involvement as “fitness coach” of the local police force.

This comes after Labador shared his position to help improve PNP’s Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) current wellness programs, after being reportedly approached by PCADG chief Brig. Gen. Marvin Joe Saro during his visit to Camp Crame.

At the time, the vlogger mentioned that he would lead his own program, along with nutritional plans made with the help of professional nutritionists.

Vlogger Rendon Labador appointed as fitness coach for PNP officers

In a memorandum dated June 21, 2025, PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations chief Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba clarified that no fitness instructor had been authorized to lead the entire PNP’s fitness program.

He also emphasized that the physical fitness event was solely organized by the PCADG and involved only its personnel—not the entire police force.

The statement read: “In this regard, PNP personnel are directed to refrain from sharing misleading content. The Chief PNP has not authorized any fitness instructor to primarily lead a weight loss program for the entire PNP. Social media officers should exercise caution in posting and sharing content to avoid spreading misinformation that may cause confusion.”

Additionally, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo asserted that she has no personal knowledge regarding the appointment of Labador as the fitness coach for the organization.

“I understand na parang naputol na yung engagement ng PCADG sa kanya. That is what General Saro mentioned to me when I called him the other day,” Fajardo said.

“According to General Saro, there was a misunderstanding in terms of the engagement with the concerned individual. Probably, na-excite lang siguro si Rendon nung magkausap sila, and the topic was brought up,” she explained.

Fajardo further expressed that any individual is encouraged to assist police officers in achieving their weight and fitness goals in line with Gen. Nicolas Torre III’s directive for stricter fitness standards within the police force.

Following the clarification, PNP announced that it will be relaunching its regular physical conditioning program, “Pulisteniks“, as part of the organization’s wellness campaign.

According to Torre, this initiative aims to remind officers of the importance of physical fitness in police work, encouraging them to adopt regular exercise as a lifestyle rather than just an “obligation”.

“Let us not treat this as an obligation. Gawin po nating bahagi ng ating lifestyle bilang pulis ang pagiging malusog. Kasi kapag malusog ang katawan, malinaw ang isipan, matatag ang loob, at mabilis ang kilos,” the PNP Chief said, as quoted by news outlets.

“A healthy body is a healthy mind […] A strong and healthy PNP is a dependable PNP. And a dependable PNP is what our country needs,” he added.

The Pulisteniks program will reportedly be held every Tuesday and Thursday across all PNP units.
