Joshua Garcia makes voice acting debut in Filipino-dubbed version of Inside Out 2

Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia is set to lend his voice in the Filipino dubbed version of the hit Pixar film Inside Out 2.

This marks the first time a Pixar film on the streaming platform will feature a Filipino dub, when the highly anticipated animated movie premieres on September 25, 2024, on Disney+.

Joshua will voice the minor character, Lance Slashblade, a dramatic anime hero whom some of the core emotions encounter in the memory vault of Riley’s mind.

The character was originally voiced by YouTuber and voice actor Yong Yea in the English version.

At a media event held yesterday in Shangri-La at the Fort, Taguig, Joshua expressed his excitement about taking on the role.

The actor revealed that he jumped at the chance to voice a character in the film as he was an avid fan of Disney-Pixar films and anime.

“‘Yung character ko rito makata, ang lalim ng Tagalog, parang nasa play! Laki ng emotion, doon ako na-challenge,” he expressed his enthusiasm for the role.

Since it was his first time taking on a voice acting role for an animation, Joshua admitted to facing challenges during the dubbing session.

Reflecting on the experience, Joshua shared that it gave him a new appreciation for the art form, saying, “Ibang experience talaga siya from ikaw ang mag-a-act. Mas lumawak ‘yung knowledge ko sa art and acting ko dahil ginawa ko ‘to.”

He also praised voice actors for their skill, saying the experience broadened his understanding of his craft.

Joshua also expressed openness to future voice dubbing opportunities, playfully teasing Disney Philippines representatives at the event about potential future roles.

When asked if he would like to voice another character in the film, Joshua joked that he would love to try Anger, not because he’s always angry, but because he felt his deep voice would suit the character.
