Miles Ocampo has finally received her first-ever acting award after a two-decade career in the local entertainment industry.
Miles was recognized as the “Best Supporting Actress” at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 Awards Night on Wednesday, December 27.
There was a momentary mishap in calling Miles by the award presenter Kaladkaren after the “E.A.T.” host was initially omitted from the nominees for Best Supporting Actress.
However, it turned out that Ocampo bested over other nominees, including Eugene Domingo (Becky & Badette), Alessandra de Rossi (Firefly), Gloria Diaz (Mallari), and Janella Salvador (Mallari).
She was acknowledged for her acting prowess in the drama film “Family of Two,” alongside Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards.
After receiving her award on the stage, Miles delivered a simple yet heartfelt speech as she shared the significance of her debut win and the hardships she experienced prior to accepting her role.
“Hala! Six years old ako nag-start sa industriya. 27 na ako next year, first time ko nakatanggap ng award.
It can be recalled that Miles disclosed last April that she was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and underwent a thyroidectomy surgery to remove her thyroid glands.
In the course of her speech, the actress expressed her gratitude to the director of Family of Two, Nuel Crisostomo Naval, and its producer, Cineko Productions.
She also thanked her management, family, and supporters for their unwavering support and faith in her abilities.
