OPM rock singer and actor JK Labajo got candid about a memorable moment with his ex-girlfriend.
In an episode from “Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast” titled “Pinaligaya, Sinaktan, Pinangalan sa Anak: A Nakakap********ng Pag-ibig feat. Juan Karlos,” hosts and filmmakers Antoinette Jadaone and JP Hibac were joined by the Ere singer to talk about “doomed relationships”.
Before the segment began, JK discussed his plans to release the second part of his recent hit album, Sad Songs and Bullshit: Part 1. He shared that the second release might be coming sometime in February, in time for Valentine’s Day.
The three went on to share their memories of being left hanging or left in the air (“naiwan sa ere” in Tagalog) in the context of JK’s record-breaking song, Ere.
The track recently made history after becoming the first Filipino song to enter the global Spotify chart and breaking the record of the biggest single-day streams for a Filipino song.
For the Senior High star, he disclosed his “naiwan sa ere” moment involving his ex-partner, which happened last year.
According to JK, he was out with his colleagues when someone from his record label asked him if he had ever gone to Dangwa, a place known for stalls and street vendors selling flowers, in Sampaloc, Manila.
The two then went for a spontaneous trip to the flower district where JK, who was visiting the place for the first time, haggled and bought a bouquet of roses for his girlfriend at the time.
“Naalala ko may nakita kong roses kasi paborito nung girlfriend ko at that time. So nakipag-haggle pa ko kay ateng nagbebenta,” JK shared.
He then took the bouquet home to his girlfriend, recalling the exact moment he gave it to her, “Pagbukas ko ng pintuan, sabi ko, ‘Baby, flowers for you.’ Tapos umiyak siya. Right then at that very moment, alam kong tapos na [kami].
“‘Yun ‘yung huling flowers na binigay ko sa taong ‘yon,” he noted, before laughing at his story.
Without mentioning her name, the person in JK’s story seemed to point to Asia’s Next Top Model alumna Maureen Wroblewitz. Both confirmed their split on Instagram last June 2022.
Maureen is now in a relationship with foreign fashion model Noah Steinbuch.
