‘You can do better than this’: Jim Paredes slams GMA for Bong Revilla show

-

Singer-composer Jim Paredes bashed TV network GMA 7 for getting Senator Bong Revilla Jr. for a drama-fantasy anthology show that will provide moral lessons for kids.

Paredes took to Twitter, asking if the senator is worthy of being a role model to children.

Revilla was charged for 16 counts of grafts for his alleged role in the pork barrel scam. His charges were acquitted because the prosecution was unable to deduce if he received kickbacks through the pork barrel scam.

“PERA PERA PERA lahat. OK lang sa inyo na maging role model siya ng kabataan? C’mon GMA. You can do better than this,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, one commenter asked, “Why would he join a network whose franchise will not be renewed?”

Paredes responded: “Why would a franchise ALLOW this? That is the bigger question. They have social and corporate responsibilities. The airwaves belong to the Filipino people.”

The network has not yet announced the details of the show but it is said that it will run on a weekly-basis.

Revilla previously starred in several GMA shows, including Kap’s Amazing Stories, which aired for seven years until 2014 when the senator got arrested and detained for plunder and graft charges in relation to pork barrel scam.

Revilla, despite being a senator, is still active in showbiz with an upcoming film with Maine Mendoza for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
