Netizens show support for Jollibee amid ‘fried towel’ controversy

-

Netizens expressed their full support to fastfood chain Jollibee following the controversy over a customer’s complaint that went viral online.

A certain Alique Perez on Facebook recently shared her “frustrating” experience ordering from the fast food restaurant’s branch in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City via delivery.

Alique posted photos and a clip of the chickenjoy she ordered from Jollibee which turned out to be a “deep fried towel”.

“This is really disturbing… How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it!?!? Yung totoo?” Alique wrote in the Facebook post last Wednesday, June, 2, which has since gained over 100,000 reactions as of press time.

Following the incident, Jollibee said in a statement that they already conducted a thorough investigation on the matter.

Jollibee also ordered a three-day closure of the BGC branch “to thoroughly review its compliance with procedures and retrain its store team to ensure that this will not happen again.”

While the controversy earned mixed reactions online, some netizens, mostly Jollibee crew, backed the fast food restaurant with posts relating their experience working in the fast food restaurant, as well as the job opportunities they had. Others, meanwhile, shared their treasured moments from Jollibee.

A netizen even created an “Im still with you” frame on Facebook which users can apply on their profile pictures to show support for the homegrown fast food brand.

Artist Mary Mae Dacanay also shared her Jollibee leaf art on her Facebook page.
