Man mourns loss of pet python that perished in Ulysses flood

A snake owner felt sorry that his 12-foot-long pet python drowned in floodwaters during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

Mcperson Castro Merto mourned the death of his Burmese python named Lance that perished inside its pen after floodwaters reached the second floor of their home in Barangay Tumana, Marikina.

In a now-viral Facebook post, Merto shared photos of the python’s body left bloated by the flooding.

Nakakaawa. Sorry Lance!” wrote Merto.

Merto said that they were able to bring their pet dogs and cats to their rooftop. They also tried to save Lance but unfortunately, its pen couldn’t fit through the window.

He couldn’t also bring Lance out of its cage as it might scare people.

Nakakalungkot talaga! ?,” Merto expressed his frustration.

Merto, who looked after the snake for six years, related why the python had a special place in his heart. It was a gift from his deceased friend.
