Furparent loses 23 pet dogs to Manila fire

-

A mourning furparent is left with only six of his pet dogs after 23 others perished in a fire that hit a residential area in Sta. Mesa, Manila on Monday.

A STAR report said that the blaze of unknown origin reached the fourth alarm, destroying over 300 houses made of light materials and affecting more than 500 families.

Ronnie Gumimpin, a 59-year-old pedicab driver, is among the fire victims who was greatly devastated because he lost his 23 pet dogs to the fire.

“Masakit sa kalooban. Siyempre mahal ko. Kahit aso lang ‘yan, parang tao din ‘yan. Nauutusan mo. Kahapon, nagsaing ako tatlong kaldero, dalawa sa kanila. ‘Di ko alam, mapapahamak na pala kami,” Gumimpin said in an ABS-CBN report.

Meanwhile, freelance photographer George Calvelo who posted a photo of Gumimpin in tears, shared in a Facebook post that the furparent “buried 23 out of his 29 dogs inside the burnt down building that he was tasked to take care of”.
