Macoy Dubs’ appearance on Gov. Remulla’s FB page was ‘technical glitch,’ says events team

Events organizer Gabi Na Naman Productions (GNNP) has apologized over the sudden appearance of internet sensation Mark Averilla, or popularly known as Macoy Dubs, in the Facebook Live of Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla’s FB page on Thursday.

Netizens, who were surprised to see Macoy Dubs show up on Remulla’s Facebook page, took and shared screenshots of the incident, which quickly made rounds online.

Some netizens were quick to speculate that Macoy Dubs is the administrator of Remulla’s page.

Macoy Dubs, in a tweet, told his followers that his appearance was caused by an error.

“Mga bessy if nakita niyo po ako sa FB live ni Jonvic Remulla, please please understand na nagkaroon lang ng error,” he wrote.

He further explained, “It was supposed to be a run-through for content creators event this Sunday. We’re fixing and figuring out papano nangyari yun. ZOOM must be really secured.”

The event for content creators wasn’t specified.

GNNP issued an apology on Thursday night through their Facebook page, saying that it was a “technical glitch” that occurred.

“Gabi Na Naman Productions (GNNP) is extending its sincerest apologies to our event host, Mark Averilla also known as Macoy Dubs for the technical glitch that happened this afternoon, around 4 p.m. (October 15), during an online run for a client’s virtual event scheduled on Sunday, October 18.”

GNNP added that its streaming partner, CSG Photography, “encountered an error during the streaming of Macoy Dubs’ rehearsal.”

“In effect, Macoy Dubs erroneously (appeared) on Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla’s Facebook account, one of CSG’s clients,” the statement added.

The group also held themselves accountable for the incident and promised to be more mindful in the future.

“As the managing group of the online event, our team takes responsibility of the system error that occurred today. Rest assured that moving forward, we will be more cautious in handling these matters,” it concluded.

As of writing, the Facebook Live has already been taken down.

Meanwhile, a media statement was sent by the camp of Gov. Remulla to STAR’s Latestchika.com on Saturday, saying: “At 4PM on Oct. 15, we experienced an unauthorized breach on our FB page and was able to fix the problem quickly.

“The Governor and his team are not in any way affiliated with MacoyDubs, GNNP nor CSG Photography.

“We have since revoked the access of all freelance tech personnel hired for all previous live feeds.”
