Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian earned praises online for showing “teamwork” to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in their constituencies.
Valenzuela City on Saturday launched its #AlagangValenzuelano Market on Wheels which drew inspiration from Pasig City’s Mobile Palengke to lessen the volume of residents at the public markets amid the Luzon enhanced community quarantine.
Gathalian expressed his gratitude to Sotto for the idea.
“We’re rolling it out na. Thanks for your idea!!! We tweaked it a little lang just to adjust to our terrain na small roads…but the overall concept is the same…thanks for your concept!!!,” tweeted Gatchalian.
“Solid ‘to! I will show the team who designed ours. It will be a big morale booster for them!” replied Sotto.
He said that Pasig will also “continue to copy a number of your best practices as well. Pati yung sa distribusyon ng goods, natututo kami sa inyo,” adding the hashtag #KopyahanNaTo! which was previously used by Valenzuela’s mayor.
Gatchalian earlier expressed his intention to adopt Sotto’s mobile market effort, saying: “Kopyahan na eto!!! Wala naman tayo sa school eh…In this case copying is allowed i think.”
Meanwhile, Sotto earlier reiterated that other local government units had already rolled out the initiative.
Netizens lauded the local chief executives’ efforts as well as exchange of ideas and best practices with the hashtag #KayaNatinTo landing on the top trending topics on Twitter.
