Isabelle Daza’s donation drive for houshelp who ‘suffered abuse’ exceeds P300K goal

Isabelle Daza has raised more than the target amount of the fund drive she launched to help domestic helper Elvie Vergara, who went partially blind after allegedly suffering abuse from her employers.

On Instagram, Isabelle expressed gratitude to her influencer friends including Anne Curtis Solenn Heussaff, Liz Uy, Alex Gonzaga, and Raymond Gutierrez, as well as individuals who extended financial aid for Vergara’s condition.

“To all those who donated, it’s only been 2 days but you guys have really opened your hearts and more importantly wallets. Salamat! And I haven’t even pressured my influencer friends to post or donate,” she wrote.

Isabelle initiated to raise P300,000 for Vergara via the crowdfunding website GoGetFunding which will run until Friday, October 6.

As of Saturday, September 9, the fundraising campaign has now raised more than P700,000.

“This is insane…. You guys wow,” Isabelle said in an Instagram story.

The campaign description noted that Vergara is set to undergo an operation to recover her eyesight “but the outcome is unsure”.

“Her compensation from her alleged abusive employers have been withheld, so the Government is now trying to help her get it back; however this is a tedious process with a lot of paperwork.

“She testified against her employers who denied the alleged abuse and it is an ongoing case in the Senate,” added Isabelle.

She continued, “I am raising funds for her to be able to live her life free from this abuse without having to worry about what she will eat and will she have enough money to live.”

Isabelle also assured she will personally hand the donations to Vergara.

During the senate hearing, the 43-year-old househelper claimed that she received countless maltreatment from her employers from Mindoro since 2020.

Her medical tests showed damage in her skull, dislocated nose bridge, sunken cheek, and severely damaged eyes which were likely caused by the trauma.
