A funny interaction between actress-host Maine Mendoza and her father-in-law Art Atayde became one of the highlights of her wedding with actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde.
The longtime couple exchanged their vows at Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges Chapel in Baguio City on Friday, July 28, 2023, after almost four years of being together.
In a report by ABS-CBN news program TV Patrol last Saturday, Art took the stage at their wedding reception to deliver a short and heartfelt message to his “lovely daughter” Maine.
In a part of his speech, Art called on his daughter-in-law to join him on stage, “I would like to welcome to the family my lovely daughter, Maine.”
This prompted Maine to walk up the platform while being guided by her husband. She stretched her arms to hug Art but the comedic host suddenly walked up to her mother-in-law Sylvia Sanchez instead and embraced her.
She then jokingly turned around as if ignoring Arjo’s dad, shared a laugh with their audience, and went back onstage to give him a warm hug.
Their interaction elicited laughter from the attendees who adored the close bond between the two.
The “bullying” between Art and Maine has been a running joke in their families showing how their dynamics match each other.
Netizens were left amused by their “kulitan” and admired their father-daughter tandem.
